Fossils found in Isaan Roi-Et Thailand Travel Guide Human fossils and pottery were recently found at the Ban Muang Bua archaeological site at Thung Kula Rongkai, in Roi-et province. Archaeologists from the Northeastern Archaeological Office in Ubon Ratchathani dated the fossils at between 1,800 and 2,500 years old. According to archaeologists from the Fine Arts Department, the site comprises two areas – a dwelling and a burial ground. Excavation began in February this year in the remote Ban Muang Bua, just behind Pathum Kongka Ban Muang Bua Temple, 60 kilometres from Roi-et town. There are plans for a fossil museum to be built near the site.
